GW now runs 5 fps
I've used GW for over a year on this computer (Athlon XP 2500+, 1GB RAM, GF4 Ti4200, Windows 2K SP4). Settings are about medium and it runs on average in the region of 20-30 fps at 1024x768
Since the update I've had the game run really slowly. I had thought it was due to loads of people on and slow servers, but a friend has reported no problems. I've tried dropping graphics detail to minimum and that doesn't affect the frame rate at all. Also the texture update is broken at times, with low res textures for a moment or two until the detailed texture and grass pops into view.
The update is the only thing to change on my system since the problem occured. Any ideas?

I contacted tech support and they said they're aware of this issue and are fixing it, so it is a bug of some sort and should be remedied, in case anyone else has had similar.

Having similar problem on 6600gt, 2500xp, 512ram, ran fine for a year on mid settings, then comes the NF preview and I get a 3 min loading screen followed by 1 fps game, more of a slideshow, then fps goes up to 30ish while doing nothing but as soon as I look in another direction it drops to 1 fps. I tried everythng, defragging, drivers, spyware etc, nothign helped, then one day it was fine for no reason. Now its lagging again and I hope its fixed, really want to play NF.

yeah the issues I am having could be described as the same and started about the time the Nightfall preview event began. Since then I have gotten a new computer but it won't even open GW. It goes through the connecting to Anet, does the downloads to the point where it should then open up and I can log in. Instead it freezes my computer (did this to my old computer to so how can it be the computer?) and or on this computer it just reboots the computer.

Ditto here. 3gig p4, 2x 512 corsair (dual channel) radeon 9800 xt. Been experiencing the same problems as the OP.
I've only put in a few hours to NF so far, it's almost entirely unplayable atm ..
EDIT: Only just noticed this. Reinstalling client and defragging Dat now ..

I've noticed a small dip in FPS than what I'm used to, but nothing unplayable at all.

I'll be surprised if that works. The frame-rate shouldn't be affected much by a fragmented game, as I think all the graphics and level data is loaded when you enter a map region. There shouldn't be any streaming to the .dat file. A fragmented .dat file could affect load times between map regions and towns, but shouldn't affect the actual drawing process.
In my case I keep a well-ordered computer and the .dat file was in 3 fragments, so definitely isn't cause of my woes.
